Call for Abstracts: Advanced Practice Nursing

 Call for Abstracts 

The Canadian Association of Advanced Practice Nurses (CAAPN) is pleased to announce the Call for Abstracts for the 2013 Biennial Conference…Advanced Practice Nurses: Navigating within Health Care. 

Join us for Canada’s premier advanced practice nursing conference set against the beautiful backdrop of Canada’s East Coast. This year’s conference theme highlights the importance of advanced practice nurses in influencing patient care within today’s dynamic health care environment. We encourage both podium and poster abstracts reflecting innovative approaches/ projects across the continuum of care, including submissions that: 

Reflect innovation in clinical practice 

Explore policy issues and solutions of advanced practice nursing

Demonstrate leadership in advanced practice nursing

Exhibit innovation in advanced nursing education

Highlight research in advanced practice nursing

Illustrate knowledge translation in advanced practice nursing

Only Abstracts that follow required guidelines will be considered

Guidelines for Abstract Submission 

1. Abstract submission must follow the guidelines below: 

a. 300 words maximum (single spaced, 12 point font). 

b. Title in bold upper case (maximum of 100 characters including spaces). 

c. Indicate your preference of oral or poster presentation (the Scientific Review Committee will make the final decision concerning abstract allocation).

Poster: A visual display, author(s) or delegate must be present.

Oral:  A 20-minute presentation by author(s) plus 5 minutes for questions/discussions.

d. All names of presenters/authors must be given.

e. Research abstracts must include the following information: Background, Method, Results, and Discussion including implications for advanced practice nursing. Please indicate if the research is in progress. 

f. On acceptance, further information will be required on audiovisual equipment and other requirements.

2. Abstracts are to be submitted to the Scientific Review Committee Chair marked “Attention: CAAPN Conference Abstract” at CAAPN13@gmail.com 

3. All presenters are expected to register for the conference, pay the registration fee, and are responsible for their own travel and related expenses.

4. Notification of abstract acceptance will be in July, 2013.

Enhance full scope of practice utilization by supporting primary care nurses to regain/develop confidence in their competencies, knowledge and skills, using the Primary Care Nurse Task Force role descriptions/recommendations as a guide

Equip primary care nurses with the tools, resources and supports required to care for the highly complex health/social needs of Ontarians within primary care

Provide opportunities for exploration, discussion and application of primary health care nursing knowledge and expertise in the context of the Ontario health system

Incorporate a rural/remote focus as a component of primary care as relevant
