The Newfoundland and Labrador Medical Association and the Department of Health and Community Services have established a Family Practice Renewal Program (FPRP) to improve the effectiveness of family practice in the province, as part of a more integrated primary health care system to improve patient outcomes. FPRP incorporates a set of broad principles and goals that reflect patient-centered services and supports, comprehensive care, improved access, collaborative care, community engagement, and a focus on local population health needs.
FPRP has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a Family Practice Nursing Program. The RFP will invite proposal submissions from qualified consultants with in-depth experience and knowledge of team-based approaches in primary care, fee-for-service family practice, the RN role (specifically the role of RNs in family practice), and quality improvement in primary care, to design a comprehensive program to achieve:
Physicians and RNs working to full scope of practice within a highly integrated team environment and;
Physicians and RNs supported to deliver comprehensive screening, health promotion and chronic disease prevention and management, in addition to providing day-to-day patient care.
Note: Deadline for submissions is 5 pm NL time on August 15, 2018.
