New Network Director Elected at CNA Annual Meeting
Treena Klassen was confirmed as a new Network Director on the CNA board of directors at the June 1st CNA annual meeting of members. Her term will be from June 2019 to June 2021. Treena is a family practice nurse and is the current president of the Canadian Family Practice Nurses Association. She was the founding executive director of the Palliser Primary Care Network and currently oversee 41 primary care clinics with close to 70 registered nurses (and several other professional health care staff). Treena is also pursuing a Doctorate studies in Business Administration and her thesis will focus on supporting primary care RN leadership through dialogue and collaboration.
In the role of Network Director, she intends to use her skills as a clinician, educator, and administrator to ensure specialized nursing knowledge and practice are recognized and taken into consideration as CNA works towards promoting and enhancing the role of nurses. As a primary care leader, she understands the unique position specialty nurses to develop wholly, or in part, practice standards and position statements regarding issues impacting not only nursing practice but more broadly health care in its entirety.
